Each year teachers from around the region submit literary works from students to Young Southern Student Writers which is sponsored by the Arts and Education Council of Chattanooga. Students are judged in two categories which are prose and poetry. We are proud that Alex was selected once again for one of his short stories.
Normal Park Museum Magnet School was well represented at the awards ceremony on Tuesday, March 30, 2010 at the Tivoli Theater. The Tivoli is a great venue and we should be proud as Chattanoogans to have such a wonderful and historic theater for events such as these.

Christmas is always special around our house. This year seemed even more special than in past years. Ally, Barret and Alex have really matured and are starting to show they know the true meaning of Christmas. All of the years troubles seem to fade away as the day came to an end.
Alex had two surprises for me this morning for my birthday. The first was his report card which he had made all A's. This was really no surprise. The boy has made straight A's since first grade but I am no less proud of him.
The second surprise was a short piano recital. The first song is called "The Harp" and the second is "Kokiri Forest" from The Legend of Zelda which he just taught himself to play.
My sister, Beth, is letting us borrow her piano while Alex takes lesson. I came home from work this afternoon and Alex and Barret were playing around. This is what I caught on film.
